Hello, my scrap loving friends!
Let’s Get Ready to SWAP our SCRAPS!!
It’s that time of year when we all look at our stash and vow never to buy fabric again…
Well, that is until we sew through our stash. But if you are anything like me, you might be bored with your current line up. So, I say it’s time to SWAP.
Scraps are great for smaller projects, I don’t know about you, but I love to complete smaller-scale sewing projects. They give me great satisfaction to leave my sewing session with a completed project.
Here are the Scrap Bag SWAP details:
WHAT: 1 Gallon size bag of scraps. Every participant will recieve a mystery pattern designed specifically for using your new scraps. Pattern is designed by Heather Valentine of The Sewing Loft. Fabric scraps should be no smaller than 2″ x 4″ and no larger than a fat quarter.
WHEN: Sign Up’s start NOW through January 12th, 2016
WHERE: Everywhere! This swap is open to everyone. Each participant will be paired with a partner in their general area to keep shipping costs low.
WHO: All fabric scrap lovers are welcome! The pattern will have a skill level rating for the Confident Beginner. Because of the community atmosphere, you are able to get help if you are stuck, ask questions and share a hint.
Price: $5 per SWAP (price includes a scrap busting sewing pattern)
Pattern Format: PDF files (download and save instantly)
Scrappy Girls Club Group: The group has a private facebook group for members only. There you can share your own projects you are working on or have finished, meet and get to know the members from around the world, share inspiration, and participate in the group. Everything is in one spot- simple and easy to use on your computer or on your phone.
And here’s how it will work:
The Scrap Bag Swap is open for sign ups until January 12th, 2016. Once signed up you will be sent a quick questionnaire to help us pair you with the perfect sewing/swap buddy. Then it’s time for us to get to work partnering you and preparing your special pattern for delivery to your in-box. While waiting, you can start to gather your scraps and begin to fill a 1 Gallon size bag with fun cotton prints and solids that you would like to swap. Swap partners will be emailed January 15th, 2016.
If you have never joined a SWAP before here is a great article on SWAP Etiquette and how the work. In the meantime, remember our Scrappy Girls Club Group page is always open. Feel free to stop by anytime to chat with other members and share how you are using your scraps! You can share any time during the day.
Why should you be part of “the scrap bag swap” ?
Everyone get’s tired of looking at the same old fabric scraps. By joining the Scrap Bag Swap, you will not only be exchanging fabric scraps but you will be partnered with a sewing buddy and recieve a new pattern to help you transform those scraps into something new and exciting. After you gather and ship your scraps, everything will be shipped directly to you and you can create in the comfort of your sewing space. This is a swap that fits your schedule, has members that are passionate about sewing, gets you excited about to start a new project.
Besides the private facebook group where you can upload pictures, ask questions and meet other members, you can also share your work over on Instagram- we’ll be using the hashtag #scrappygirlsclub you can follow on Instagram here.
