Can you believe that summer is over already? I feel like it flew by and the holidays will be here in a flash. So, to help get your stash stocked for the busy sewing season ahead, let’s have an exchange … pieces of Blue Skies fabric!
There’s never a bad time to refresh your fabric stash and prepare for new sewing projects. This Stash of Color Blue Skies SWAP is the perfect way to infuse into your fabrics with a pop of color. Plus, who doesn’t like to recieve a package of happy mail?!
Blue Skies Fabric SWAP details:
WHAT COLOR/PATTERN: Patterned Blues. Fabric for the Stash of Color SWAP should be a quality quilting cotton fabric square print. The pattern/style is your choice and can be anything that truly reads BLUE. That means that BLUE should be the focal color of your fabric square. (please do not send solids)
WHAT SIZE: Every participant will send and receive 10″ squares of printed BLUE quilting cotton fabric to exchange with a friend. (10″ squares are commonly sold in Layer Cakes)
HOW MANY: Participants are welcome to send up to 24 squares of 10″ BLUE fabric to exchange. They can even all be the same print. For example if you have an extra yard of blue dots left over from your last project, feel free to slice it up into 24 squares 10″ in size and send them. In return, you will receive 24 new 10″ blue fabric squares in assorted prints.
WHERE: Everywhere! This swap is open to everyone regardless of your location. *Shipping Costs: Each participant provides their own self addressed, postage paid* return envelope for their fabric to be shipped in. NOTE that packages can not be shipped back to you without this envelope.
INTERNATIONAL SWAPPERS: Since exchange rates and postal services vary, shipping may be significantly less for me to send to you or vice versa. So, please send a pre addressed envelope with your name and PayPal address on an index card inside your package. I will exchange your fabrics, invoice you for the actual shipping and mail your package. **The average shipping cost for the Orange SWAP was $13.75 US dollars.
WHO: All fabric lovers and stitchers are welcome! Please remember when joining any swap, your partner may have a different skill level/design aesthetic. We offer helpful hints, technique based tutorials and because of our community atmosphere, you are able to get help and ask questions along the way.
WHEN: Sign Up’s start NOW through September 16th, 2017. Packages must arrive by September 30th, 2017 to be eligible for the SWAP. ** Note: The deadline is firm. Packages that arrive after the deadline date will not be exchanged and need to be returned to sender. Update 9/17/2017- Sign ups are now closed. Please click here for the next SWAP.
BOUNS: Tucked inside every package of happy mail will be a pattern from my Scrap Snack Collection. This pattern collection is designed specifically for your fabric scraps.
Price: $5 per SWAP
Still not sure? This is just one small stack exchanged during one of our Stash of Color SWAPs. The fabric assortment was amazing!
Scrappy Girls Club Group: The group has a private Facebook Community for members only. There you can share your own projects you are working on or have finished, meet and get to know the members from around the world, share inspiration, and participate in the group any time of the day. Everything is in one spot- simple and easy to use on your computer or smart phone.
How the Blue Skies Fabric SWAP works:
The Stash of Color SWAP is open for sign ups until September 16th, 2017. Once signed up you will be sent an email with shipping details. Then it’s time to look through your stash and pull out those BLUE fabrics. Each 10″ square should be cut with a rotary cutter or pinking shears. Please take pride in cutting accuracy and remember that another member will be receiving this square. *** Note: Squares with jagged edges, selvage or squares that do not measure at least 10″ will be returned.
Shipping Details: When preparing your package for sending you must include a self addressed postage paid return envelope. This is how your package will be returned to you. Without this return envelope, there is NO WAY for your exchanged squares to be delivered. It is also extremely helpful to me if you mark the number of squares on your package.
Happy Mail: During the first week of October I will be SWAPping all of the fabric squares and repackaging them for shipping back to you. Packages should be back on their way to you by October 7th, 2107 but this depends on how many packages are exchanged.
Additional Notes: You are welcome to include a small note or token item for me to pass along for me to pass to your new fabric buddies.
If you have never joined a SWAP before here is a great article on SWAP Etiquette and how they work. In the meantime, remember our Scrappy Girls Club Group page is always open. Feel free to stop by anytime to chat with other members and share how you are using your scraps! You can share any time during the day, we are always open.
